šOctober Lookback: Changing, Committing, Creating and Leading š
Let's take a look back on October! :)
quote/book of the month

Changing š«
As 2024 comes to an end, there have been so many changes ranging from age, priorities, and lifestyle to relationships I never thought would end or even begin and goals that are now important to me. Change always occurs, itās obvious. However, throughout this month I think Iāve experienced the most change ever.
The most exciting for me was the change in hair colour. It wasnāt dramatic, but it felt dramatic. I dyed part of my black hair red. Between discovering I had the right finances, overthinking the external feedback, deciding between the colours, etc. Iāve been pondering for a while now, but I finally committed!
Another aspect was changing my whole mindset with school! (More in the next section). However, Iām finally closing out my experience at community college and moving on to my higher degree work, which is super exciting!
Something thatās constantly been on my mind is media creation. Iāve always dreamt of working in media - from marketing and graphic design to film and directing; Iāve always loved exploring the creative field. Finally, this month, with a shove, Iāve changed my mindset from āIām scared of what they will sayā to āI honestly donāt care.ā While dramatic, Iāve started consistently posting and am willing to fail on cool new projects.
Committing š
With the three changing factors from the section above, Iāve realized a majority of my decisions and failures have occurred due to non-commitment. As much as I love having a billion jobs, TKS, school, friends, etc, thereās a reason it is so draining (that isnāt energy). All the activities in my life have meaning and intention behind it. With newfound intention, brain maps, conversation, etc., Iāve recommitted to some of my new goals and activitiesāsports. Sports have always been my passion with specification in dance and martial arts. Something about these communities keeps me wanting to achieve the next highest level. Starting muay thai and jujitsu later as an 18-year-old, Iāve noticed the barriers and hardships that make it difficult to ingrain them into life. Throughout work, family, and school, it has been hard to make it a habit like something thatās always been in my life, like karate. However, I hope to recommit to muay thai and jujitsu. What action steps am I taking?
setting aside one day (Tuesdays) to go with the opportunity to go on other days
continue talking to my mentor and other mentors about commitment and scheduling
having an accountability friend to ensure that we both go, learn, and retain the information we learned that day
This intention to learn sports and adapt my schedule will lead to consistency and growth! So excited to see what it brings!
Creation š„
Another aspect Iāve been dreaming about is creating. From last yearās TKS, numerous business events, opportunities, etc; thereās been a common piece of advice about creation. From content creation to articles, itās vital for your growth and your self-branding. A small part of me has always dreamt about getting into the marketing and creative field. With that being said, Iāve been exploring opportunities to break into this field. One idea Iāve pursued is daily posting on my tiktok (@byalondrad) for November. In addition, continuing my love of neuroscience with TKS has challenged me to go deeper into neurodegeneration, with an emphasis on cognitive abilities. Canāt wait to see what this month brings in projects!
Leading š
Leading is not one of my strong suits. As my ventures begin to rise in the nonprofit and organization space, I know I vastly need to improve. With projects like Uppr and being the newfound director of BusinessWithHer, I hope to vastly work on numerous skills that could grow my strength in this field. An important area that comes from this is organization. To be a good leader, organization is vital to keep consistency in business and growth. With success in my co-owned projects, Iām looking into a small project to maximize my skills and personal/professional growth. With (@growthmediapod) being born, I hope to work on all my skills to see if I can scale up the success I have brought with other projects.
October was a fun month with exciting projects, a good compromise in relationships, and life-changing experiences - I canāt wait to see what November brings!
